David began his career at BLM, one of the UK's premier personal injury litigation practices, as an Associate. He then joined HF (formerly Horwich Farrelly) as a Partner, going on to become Head of Department.

David relocated to Perth in 2005 and joined Kott Gunning, where he practised as a civil and commercial litigator.

He requalified in Sydney to obtain his Australian Practising Certificate, allowing him to practise in Australia in his own right.
